Job description
We are looking for a skilled and versatile ServiceNow L3 Developer to join a dynamic platform engineering environment where automation, integration, and service excellence are at the core of daily operations. This is an opportunity for a hands-on technologist who thrives at the intersection of development, architecture, and operational support — someone who can both build robust solutions on the ServiceNow platform and coordinate their smooth delivery into production.
In this role, you will work within a multi-module ServiceNow environment, supporting critical ITSM and ITOM processes while contributing to the platform's ongoing evolution. You will partner closely with offshore managed service teams, internal IS teams, and business stakeholders to translate operational needs into scalable, automated solutions — from custom workflows and integrations to self-service capabilities that improve efficiency across the organization.
Beyond development, this position carries real ownership: you will help drive automation strategy, support platform upgrades, coordinate quality releases, and ensure that what gets built is well-documented, well-tested, and built to last. It's an ideal opportunity for a self-driven problem solver who enjoys technical depth as much as cross-team collaboration, and who wants to make a tangible, lasting impact on how the platform runs.
Location: Durham, North Carolina (US)
Work mode: hybrid
Key Responsibilities
- Drive automation efforts targeting application support activities, deployments, health checks, monitoring, and alerting
- Support automation, orchestration, and integration initiatives built on ServiceNow
- Develop enhancements in coordination with the offshore managed service team, including creating requests, updating forms, customizing the portal, and customizing process workflows
- Collaborate with application users and operations teams to understand requirements and use cases, and translate them into self-service options
- Investigate and roll out ServiceNow features such as ATF and Virtual Agent
- Support ServiceNow platform upgrades
- Coordinate the release of enhancements, ensuring development and testing are completed on time and to a high standard of quality
- Create custom support tools to automate production processes
- Generate metrics and reports
- Produce documentation for maintaining and repairing automation scripts
Requirements
- Looking for a ServiceNow L3 Developer, Technical Analyst, or Release Coordinator with 3–7 years of experience as a Tooling Engineer (or similar role), including hands-on ServiceNow development and platform architecture in a multi-module environment
- Strong problem-solving ability with excellent communication skills
- Hands-on experience with system integrations and process automation (Workflow Data Fabric)
- Strong experience in web service integration using REST and SOAP
- Strong experience in directory service integration (Active Directory, Azure AD, LDAP, etc.)
- Strong experience with PowerShell, JavaScript, Ansible, Terraform, Python, XML, databases, and SQL
- Strong experience with ITSM/ITOM; exposure to other modules such as HRSD and CSM is a plus
- Exposure to Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, ServiceNow Orchestration, AWS EKS, AKS, and similar technologies
- Experience with software development tools and IDEs
- Experience using code repositories
- Good understanding of the ITIL framework
- Strong reporting skills
- Strong collaborative and assertive interaction skills with partners (offshore, nearshore, onsite), internal IS teams (Infrastructure & Business Solutions), and business teams
- Self-driven with a proactive approach
- Strong documentation discipline
Certifications & Languages
- ServiceNow Developer Certification preferred
- English: Fluent
- French: Nice to have
