Automation Tester (Data Testing)

Ho Chi Minh City
English, Vietnamese

Job description

ABOUT THE JOB

  • Review and understand business requirements, data flows, and key metrics (GMV, CVR, SKU, etc.) to design clear data test scenarios, test cases, and acceptance criteria from an automation testing perspective.
  • Work closely with Data Engineers and BI Engineers to define data validation rules, anomaly thresholds, and automated checklists that prevent data issues before dashboards and reports are released.
  • Perform manual and exploratory data testing and reconciliation across APIs, web‑crawled data, semantic tables, dashboards, and AI outputs to verify correctness, completeness, and consistency.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automation test scripts (SQL/Python or similar) to call APIs, connect to databases, query related tables, and compare/reconcile data across multiple sources at scale as part of the test automation framework.
  • Monitor data freshness and data quality, log issues, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and automatically create tickets (e.g. via Jira API) and send alerts (Slack/Telegram or similar) when anomalies or data source failures are detected.
  • Integrate data test scripts and automation suites into CI/CD pipelines so that automated data tests are triggered after Data Engineering pipelines run, ensuring data is validated before reaching dashboards and reports.
  • Maintain structured test documentation (test cases, validation rules, test scripts, logs) and contribute to the continuous improvement of data test automation and monitoring practices.

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • 2–4 years of experience as a Manual/Automation Tester, QA Engineer, or in a data‑related role (Data QA, Data Analyst, Data Engineer) with strong exposure to test automation, data validation, and reconciliation.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases; familiarity with APIs, JSON data structures, and using them in automated tests is a plus.
  • Hands‑on experience writing automation scripts (preferably in Python or a similar language) to automatically extract, compare, and validate data across multiple sources.
  • Good understanding of data quality and QA concepts: validation rules, anomaly detection, reconciliation, data freshness, defect lifecycle, regression testing, and automation testing best practices.
  • Experience with issue/test management tools (e.g. Jira, Azure DevOps, TestRail or similar); exposure to BI/dashboard tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.) is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, high attention to detail, and an ownership mindset towards data accuracy, reliability, and test automation quality.
  • Good communication skills in English (written and spoken), able to collaborate effectively with Data Engineers, BI Engineers, QA peers, and business stakeholders.

At Amaris, we strive to provide our candidates with the best possible recruitment experience. We like to get to know our candidates, challenge them, and be able to give them proper feedback as quickly as possible. Here's what our recruitment process looks like:

Brief Call: Our process typically begins with a brief virtual/phone conversation to get to know you! The objective? Learn about you, understand your motivations, and make sure we have the right job for you!

Interviews (the average number of interviews is 3 - the number may vary depending on the level of seniority required for the position). During the interviews, you will meet people from our team: your line manager of course, but also other people related to your future role. We will talk in depth about you, your experience, and skills, but also about the position and what will be expected of you. Of course, you will also get to know Amaris: our culture, our roots, our teams, and your career opportunities!

Case study: Depending on the position, we may ask you to take a test. This could be a role play, a technical assessment, a problem-solving scenario, etc.

As you know, every person is different and so is every role in a company.  That is why we have to adapt accordingly, and the process may differ slightly at times. However, please know that we always put ourselves in the candidate's shoes to ensure they have the best possible experience.
We look forward to meeting you!
